Big Isle woman, 19, charged with stabbing murder at beach park
A 19-year-old Hawaii island woman was charged with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing Friday at Whittington Beach Park in Naalehu.
Kaleianuenue Borero-Kaluna was being held on $200,000 bail, police said Monday. She also was charged with first-degree attempted murder and second-degree attempted murder, police said.
On Friday at about 3:40 p.m., Kau patrol officers responded to a reported stabbing at Whittington Beach Park. Two victims, a 36-year-old male, and 35-year-old female, were discovered with multiple stab wounds.
The female victim died at the scene and was pronounced dead at Hilo Medical Center, police said. The male victim was transported to Hilo Medical Center in serious condition.
Borero-Kaluna and 69-year-old Robert Hayes, both of Naalehu, were identified as suspects, police said. Hayes was released pending further investigation.
The 36-year-old male victim remains at Hilo Medical Center in stable condition.
