Pahoa businesses still struggle while creating new attractions

Volunteer docent Vincent Zamora shares his knowledge about the Kilauea eruption with visitors Kristin and Andy Swofford at the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum. The museum opened to offer visitors a place to learn about the eruption and has borrowed pieces from the Thomas A. Jaggar Museum at Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, which was closed due to volcanic earthquake damage.

Amedeo Markoff, owner of Puna Gallery and Gift Emporium, stood inside his shop last year in Puna. Markoff has been the driving force behind the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum, which opened in December.
