The Kauai Police Department has identified the man found dead below a cliff on April 23 as Rodel Constantino, 30, of Kaumakani. An autopsy revealed his cause of death as blunt force trauma consistent with a fall from a height. Police said they do not suspect foul play in the cause of his death.

At around 6 p.m. on April 23, police were called to mile marker 5.5 of Waimea Canyon Drive, where a bystander scouting the area for goats reported a body about 200 feet below a cliff. Emergency personnel, citing the dangerous terrain and impending nightfall, waited until the following morning to recover the body.
