Woman, 70, hit and killed walking on Honolulu road
A 70-year-old woman died after she was struck by an SUV on Aala Street Wednesday, police said.
City Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene at about 12:10 p.m. and treated the woman who was in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital.
Police said the SUV was traveling in the mauka direction on Aala Street when it struck the woman who was walking in the roadway and not in a crosswalk.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors, police said.
This is Oahu’s 20th fatality in 2019 compared to 19 last year.
