Bellows Field Beach Park and campsites closed for Marine training next weekend
Bellows Field Beach Park and its campsites will be closed to the public from Friday, May 10 to Monday, May 13 for U.S. Marine Corps training, according to city parks officials.
The beach park will be closed for a week, as it is normally closed to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
City officials said campsites at other nearby park campgrounds, including Waimanalo Bay Beach Park and Waimanalo Beach Park, will still be available.
Reservations for the Bellows Field Beach Park campsite will resume on Friday, May 3 for the camping period beginning on Friday, May 17. Online reservation requests begin at 5 p.m. on the Friday two weeks prior to the camping dates at camping.honolulu.gov.
While Bellows Field Beach Park is under the purview of the military, it is open to the public on weekends and holidays due to an agreement with the City and County of Honolulu. The military, however, reserves the right to close the park.
More information about the Marine Corps training is available at 257-8815.
