Driver and passenger seriously injured when vehicle hits tree in Mililani

Honolulu firefighters extricated a 22-year-old man after a vehicle he was operating crashed into a tree in Mililani Thursday night.

Five units with 16 firefighters responded to the crash on Lanikuhana Avenue near the intersection of Paionia Place at about 9:35 p.m. Honolulu Fire Spokesman Capt. Scot Seguirant said the driver’s side of the vehicle struck the tree, pinning the driver inside.

Firefighter’s extricated him from the vehicle. His passenger, a 16-year-old boy, exited the car on his own.

Emergency Medical Services treated them and took them to a hospital in serious condition.
