Police search for man wanted in attempted kidnapping of child in Ewa Beach

CrimeStoppers and Honolulu police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted in an attempted kidnapping in Ewa Beach.

Police said a witness observed the suspect trying to pull a child into a white, four-door Chevy Colorado pickup truck parked on the side of Kaileolea Drive and Keoneula Boulevard at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to a CrimeStoppers news release.

When the witness intervened, the perpetrator let the child go and fled in the vehicle.

Police said the witness also reported observing an unknown female sitting in the passenger seat of the pickup truck.

The suspect is described as being in his 30s, about 5-foot-6 to 6 feet, and 200 to 220 pounds. He has black hair, side burns and a scruffy beard.

Police said the male suspect also has a tattoo of the Hawaiian islands on his left arm. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and shorts at the time.

The pickup truck has tinted windows, an “Aloha” sticker on the driver’s side rear window and damage to the rear bumper.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
