Hawaii Hilo senior Jared Kinoshita was named the PacWest men’s golfer of the year, the conference announced Thursday.
Kinoshita, of Bakersfield, Calif., had an 18-hole average of 72.42 this season.
Hawaii Pacific’s Chad Vander Dussen, a senior from Rancho Murieta, Calif., joined Kinoshita on the five-player first team.
The Vulcans’ Andrew Otani, an ‘Iolani graduate, was voted conference freshman of the year.
Vulcans baseball team drops close one
The Hawaii Hilo baseball team lost to Biola 9-8 on a walk-off hit Thursday in La Mirada, Calif.
The Vulcans (25-19) trailed by four runs after five innings, but rallied to take an 8-7 lead into the bottom of the ninth.
Hilo was one out from victory, but Connor Kostecka’s two-run double won it for the Eagles (28-18).
RJ Romo, Jaryn Kanbara and Dylan Sugimoto each drove in two runs for Hilo.
