A resident safely escaped a house fire that broke out late Monday in Ewa Beach.

More than 20 firefighters responded to the blaze at 91-713 Peleleu Way at approximately 11:50 p.m.

When they arrived, they observed smoke and flames emanating from the front section and garage of a two-story home, said Honolulu Fire Spokesman Capt. Scot Seguirant.

A man safely escaped the residence after neighbors alerted him of the flames.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at about midnight and extinguished it shortly after 12:15 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and a damage estimate has yet to be determined.
