A 34-year-old Oahu woman was apparently bitten by a shark this morning off Haleiwa.

The incident happened at around 9:20 a.m.

Emergency Services Department spokeswoman Shayne Enright said the woman first told a paramedic she was injured by a spear, then later told her it was a shark bite that she got three miles off Haleiwa Boat Harbor.

Enright said the paramedic confirmed that the injury appeared to be a shark bite.

The woman was transported to an emergency room in serious condition.
