Man runs into side of bus after being assaulted in Chinatown, transit officials say

A man being assaulted ran into a city bus Thursday morning in Chinatown, suffering serious injuries, according to witnesses.

Emergency Medical Services, however, said the 28-year-old man was injured after he was apparently struck by a city bus.

Reports to the city’s Department of Transportation Services and Oahu Transit Services indicate that the man ran into the side of the bus after being assaulted by another man, city spokesman Andrew Pereira said.

EMS responded at 10:40 a.m. to the scene at North Hotel Street and found the man seriously injured.

EMS personnel treated and transported the man to a hospital emergency room.
