Waikiki residents fed up with unsafe sidewalk covered with protruding plywood boards

    It's been about 10 years since the state first started covering the sidewalk with plywood boards instead of repairing the sidewalk in front of Wailana at Waikiki condominiums. The residents still want to know when it will be repaired.

    Waikiki residents are concerned that the city has not fixed the holes in the sidewalk despite complaints. The brown painted plywood covering the holes have screws or nails sticking out of it. Homeowner association board member Doris Dowdy, above at right, witnessed a surfer injuring his foot on a raised nail.
