Letter: Justice system failed victims of beatings

The (cowardly) local male who beat the innocent Japanese visitor and choked his wife unconscious in a Kakaako public restroom gets away with probation? Are you kidding me?

Our justice system is not just broken; it’s seriously messed up and in need of a major overhaul. If this happened to friend or acquaintance of a notable local, the punishment would have been more severe. And in Japan, this crime would have gotten the perp at least 20 years.

With leniency like this, we won’t have any tourists for the next generation.
