A 76-year-old woman died this morning after she was struck from behind by an SUV while standing outside her stalled vehicle in Ewa Beach has been identified.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Apolinaria Ringor of Ewa Beach.
The crash occurred at 6:20 a.m. on Fort Weaver Road near Laulaunui Street, authorities said.
The woman, whose Toyota Corolla had stalled, was struck from behind by a Toyota 4Runner driven by a 34-year-old Ewa Beach man, police said.
Ringor was transported in critical condition to The Queen’s Medical Center West, where she later died.
The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital in serious condition, EMS said.
Speed may have been a factor in the crash, police said. However, alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been involved.
