Light at end of Arizona tunnel?

Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial this week, Interior Secretary David Bernhardt said he’ll be disappointed if repairs to its disabled dock are not completed by October. We’re already disappointed walk-on visitation to the site — one of the most revered spots in American battle history — has not been possible since last May.

Last summer, National Park Service officials estimated the site would reopen by October 2018. After that deadline — and others — were missed, two months ago they aimed for a “fall” completion date. Yes, the safety-related fix is complicated and funding has required regulatory hoop-jumping — but let’s hope the repairs are soon in place.

UH boasts ‘No. 1 Asian law school’

Of course, it’s great to see a shout-out for the William S. Richardson School of Law being “No. 1 Asian law school in the U.S., based on student enrollment, faculty and other factors.” That’s the wording in the current issue of preLaw Magazine, in a roundup on western regional law schools.

One wished for an explainer. Was curriculum one of the other factors, for instance? The article also says “it leads the country for Pacific-Asian legal studies,” though, so it’s surely not just demographics.
