Chinatown liquor store to get license despite protest

Maunakea Liquor & Grocery’s license to sell alcohol has come up for renewal. The store has been under scrutiny by the Chinatown community and the Liquor Commission because of complaints by neighbors regarding public drinking, drug dealing and other crimes.

A shopper in Chinatown passed by people sitting near the Maunakea Liquor & Grocery store in Chinatown on Wednesday. The Liquor Commission approved the renewal of the store’s liquor license despite complaints of illegal activity linked to the store.
