New law allows Hawaii residents to identify as nonbinary gender ‘X’ on their driver’s license

    Gov. David Ige signed HB 711 that will allow people to identify as a nonbinary gender “X” on their driver’s license Wednesday at the Hawaii State Capitol. Gov. Ige stood with those who support the signing of the bills.

Hawaii residents will be able to choose a nonbinary gender designation — neither exclusively male nor exclusively female — for their driver’s license starting July 2020. Read more
