Richard E. Taylor’s letter, “Trump trying to get Nobel Peace Prize” (Star-Advertiser, June 30), continues the “fake news” of the left.
The truth is that President Barack Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize on Oct. 9, 2009, less than nine months after becoming president — hardly enough time to demonstrate any achievements worthy of the award.
In reality, Obama oversaw Syria crossing his own red line in the sand without penalty.
Russian President Vladimir Putin annexed Crimea without fear.
A complete pullout of U.S. forces from Iraq came after a hard-fought war, creating ISIS and giving them enough U.S. military equipment to begin a takeover of the Middle East that would take years to stop.
This looks more like war mongering than peace.
An honorable step would be for Obama to return the prize to Oslo marked, “Unused.”
