World War II pilot Felix Smith, 100, got his final wish to have his ashes scattered off Oahu

Felix Smith flew during World War II, piloted aircraft for what would become CIA-run Air America in Asia and later was director of operations for South Pacific Island Airways in Hawaii. Smith died Oct. 3 in Wisconsin at the age of 100. His last wish was that his ashes be scattered in the Pacific around Hawaii.

WWII pilot Felix Smith, seen at right with friend and fellow pilot Norman Schwartz, died in October in Milwaukee at 100. The Coast Guardscattered his ashes on July 12 in waters off Oahu. Schwartz was shot down and killed attempting to extract a spy out of Manchuria during the Cold War.
