Makena >> One of Maui’s most dangerous beaches will host a special talk-story session on spinal injury prevention in conjunction with Hawaii Beach Safety Week.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Makena State Park, known for its treacherous shorebreak. The session will be presented by acting Battalion Chief Jeff Giesea of the Department of Fire and Public Safety’s Ocean Safety Bureau; Jeff Later, trauma program manager at Maui Memorial Medical Center; and ocean safety officers.
