LONDON >> British Airways pilots have voted overwhelmingly to strike amid a long-running dispute over pay.

The British Airlines Pilots Association says today that the pilots don’t want to inconvenience the public and accused the airline of dragging negotiations into the summer. No potential dates have been set for strike action.

The association says that action was backed by more than 9-1 on a turnout of 90%.

The organization’s leader, Brian Strutton, says the strong result “demonstrates the resolve of BA pilots, and shows BA that it must table a sensible improved offer if a strike is to be averted.”

The association says the airline is seeking an injunction Tuesday in the High Court to halt industrial action. It says further negotiations are on hold because of BA’s legal move.
