You put Jason Momoa on the front page, giving him free publicity in order to get bigger bucks for his next movie (“More star power,” Star-Advertiser, Aug. 1). Momoa doesn’t care at all about the people who are not allowed to go to work each day in order to pay for food for their children and their mortgage payments. This free publicity stunt portrays him to be really interested in joining the protesters to protect a mountain. Why don’t you put the pictures on the front page of the employees who were blocked from going to work every day?
It would be so much better if Momoa put his big bucks where his mouth is. If he really cares about the Hawaiian community, why doesn’t he whip out his checkbook and write a check for $1 million to fund scholarships at the University of Hawaii, designated for children of Hawaiian heritage to study science and engineering? Perhaps then the next generation would understand the true benefits that Mauna Kea provides for the study of our universe.
