Police capture South Kohala home burglary suspect

PUAKO >> A 26-year-old Kamuela man was charged with burglary after a witness spotted him stealing from a South Kohala home, Hawaii island police said.

Kyle Lusardi was charged Friday with first-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft and was being held in lieu of $5,250 bail. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

Police said officers responded to a report of a burglary on Puako Beach Drive on Friday and were told a man was seen removing tools from an open garage before fleeing on foot. Officers searched the area and found Lusardi at Puako Boat Ramp.

Upon further investigation, officers located all of the stolen items and returned them to the owner
