The new Coast Guard national security cutter Midgett (757) sailed into Honolulu Harbor Aug. 16 after leaving Pascagoula, Miss., on June 11.

Sister ship Kimball (756), which arrived in Honolulu last December, joined Midgett off Oahu.

Legend-class national security cutters are the centerpiece of the Coast Guard fleet. They are capable of conducting the most challenging operations to include maritime homeland security and national defense.

Kimball and Midgett are the first national security cutters to be based in Hawaii. A dual commissioning is scheduled for Aug. 24.
