Work on Hawaii’s $3.2B airport modernization project hits halfway mark

    Gates for six wide-body or 11 narrow-body aircraft are being built at the site of the old commuter terminal.

    The Consolidated Rental Car Facility (CONRAC) is being built on the Diamond Head, mauka side of the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. The HART rail line will run along the mauka side of CONRAC, with a rail station to be built ewa of the facility. Work at that site is shown today.

Spending on the $3.2 billion modernization effort underway across Hawaii’s airport system is at the halfway point, and most of the big-ticket capital improvement projects are slated to wrap up by December 2021. Read more
