Solar permits issued on Oahu jumped 68% in July as the once-slumping solar industry showed new life.
There were 369 permits issued by the city Department of Planning and Permitting compared with 219 in the year-earlier period.
Through the first seven months of this year, photovoltaic permits issued on Oahu rose 3.6% to 1,628 compared with 1,571 at the same time a year ago.
PV systems with energy storage continued to rise last month with 76% including batteries with an average 75% so far this year, according to Marco Mangelsdorf, who tracks rooftop solar permits and is president of Hilo-based Pro Vision Solar.

Locations Hawaii has hired Danielle Travis and Nikki Ngo as Realtor-Associates based at its Diamond Head office. Travis is a third-generation real estate agent licensed since 2014 and the highest-rated female polo player in Hawaii. Ngo has been licensed since 2015, previously from Mercedes Benz Honolulu, and is fluent in Vietnamese.
