Carlsmith Ball has announced that five attorneys were named “Lawyer of the Year” in the 2020 edition of “The Best Lawyers in America.” The designation is given to a single attorney in each practice group by metropolitan area. The distinguished attorneys are:
>> Michelle C. Imata, a managing partner and a member of the transactional practice group. Imata concentrates her practice on commercial banks, financial institutions, financial services loan companies, representing credit unions and commercial banks.
>> Harry Y. Oda, a partner at the Carlsmith Ball Honolulu office. Oda concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, corporate law, pension, taxation, commercial transactions and probate.
>> Tom E. Roesser, also a partner in the firm’s Honolulu office. He is a member of the transactional practice group and concentrates his practice on bankruptcy, loan workouts, advising financial institutions on problem loans, foreclosures and lender liability issues.
>> Gerald A. Sumida, Carlsmith Ball LLP’s partner for its Honolulu office and is one of the members of the Business, Corporate & Finance practice group. Sumida concentrates his practice on business operations and structuring, including business acquisitions, joint venture and partnership matters, administrative and public utilities law, corporate, limited liability company, antitrust and trade regulation law, international legal matters and more.
>> Robert D. Triantos, an administrative partner in the firm’s Kona office. Triantos concentrates his practice on real estate law, with emphasis on sales, landlord-tenant, development, zoning and leasing issues, and practices civil litigation, general corporate law, estate planning and labor and employment law.
