Scores in the 60s lit up Hualalai Golf Club in Monday’s final round of the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association Big Island Junior Classic.
Hilo’s Isaiah Kanno shot the tournament’s low round, closing with a 5-under-par 67 to run away with a deep Boys 15-18 flight. Kanno had a two-day total of 137 to win by seven over Noah Koshi (71). Peter Jung (70—146) was next. State high school champion Jake Sequin (70) shared fourth with Joshua Chung (73) and Joshua Hayashida (73) at 148.
Myah McDonald went the lowest among the girls, firing a final-round 68 to earn a share of first in the 15-18 flight with Kyung Eun Lee (72), who had Sunday’s only score in the 60s. Both had a 36-hole total of 141.
Dysen Park, also from Hilo, fired a final-round 69 to win the Boys 13-14s at 140. Yoonjeong Huh (71—147) captured the girls title.
The 7-10 and 11-12 flights were won by Kady Matsumoto (78—158) and Kate Nakaoka (71—152) for the girls, and Kaha’i’olelo Helm (83—167) and Jackson Ibarra (79—155) for the boys.
