The Pacific Century Fellows Program has announced the selection of 35 young leaders for its 17th class.
The participants, selected by judges, represent a cross-section of individuals in government, small and large businesses, the arts, nonprofits, and corporate organizations who have the potential to significantly contribute to Hawaii’s future.
The program will begin with a two-day retreat beginning Friday.
Modeled after the White House Fellows program, the Pacific Century Fellows was founded by former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann to encourage “civic participation by bringing together a diverse group of individuals who, through the course of the program, build lasting networks and learn about the issues and challenges facing our community,” a news release said.
“With our 17th class of Fellows, we continue to build on the cadre of nearly 475 bright and energetic alumni who will make contributions to the betterment of Hawaii and the Pacific region in the years to come,” Hannemann said in the release.
