President Donald Trump has been on the news a lot recently. One item that stirred my interest was the news media showing his pen mark showing Hurricane Dorian likely affecting Alabama. The National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration (NOAA) was criticized by former top officials for not dismissing the president’s gut feeling (“NOAA assailed for defending Trump’s forecast,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 8.)

Yes, it’s much easier for former officials to tell it like it really is. On the other hand, it’s much more difficult when one’s job is likely on the line for not backing the big boss, right or wrong.

Kudos to the National Weather Service and NOAA, the media, and those involved with Hurricane Dorian. They performed superbly. Too much hoopla was given over the president’s projection on the hurricane’s path. The president’s unfounded weather guess just continues to harm his credibility.
