Man, 23, arrested in connection with deadly Kalihi Valley Homes shooting

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting early Monday morning at Kalihi Valley Homes.

The man turned himself in to police at the Kalihi police station about 4:40 p.m. and was booked for investigation of second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, police said.

The shooting occurred fronting 2336 Kalaunu St. at about 1:10 a.m. Police said a male suspect discharged a firearm, striking a 20-year-old man in the upper torso. The victim was taken to a trauma hospital where he died.

Positive identification is pending.

Police said another man, 19, was also struck in the shooting. He was taken to a hospital with a non life-threatening injury.

The gunman fled on foot.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
