Submit your event listings for our holiday guide
Ready or not, here come the holidays!
If you’re not ready, you can count on our annual Holiday Happenings guide to clue you in to Santa encounters, mall activities, music, stage productions, craft fairs and workshops, town parades, food and nightlife festivities and other events to make your holidays merry and bright.
Holiday Happenings 2019 will run Nov. 24 in the Detours section. The deadline to submit event listings is Friday.
To submit a free listing for the guide, go to staradvertiser.com/calendar. Click “add event” and be sure to choose the appropriate holiday category. Please include details about your event: date, time, location, sponsor, description of event, contact information. You can also email features@staradvertiser.com.
Enter your artwork for Keiki Kalikimaka ornament contest
Hey kids! It’s time to break out the art supplies to help us trim our pages with your holiday creations.
Color, paint or sketch an ornament for the annual Star-Advertiser Keiki Kalikimaka contest, and you could win a prize of $150, $100 or $50 cash.
The contest is open to kids ages 12 and younger. No 3D entries (don’t glue on any objects).
Each day starting Nov. 29, we will select a finalist to be printed on the front page of the newspaper, with more ornaments appearing on our website, staradvertiser.com.
On Dec. 22, we’ll run all 24 finalists and announce the randomly selected winners.
One entry per child. Children of Oahu Publications employees are ineligible. Judges’ decisions are final. All entries may be printed in the paper and online without compensation to the entrant.
We must receive your drawing in the mail — no faxes or emails. The last day to enter is Dec. 11. Ornaments cannot be returned.
IMPORTANT: Along with your ornament, you must include your name, age, school, teacher’s name and a parent’s phone number, or your entry will be disqualified.
