Stable conditions with light, easterly trades are expected to continue through the first half of the week, forecasters said, but another cold front may approach the Hawaiian isles Wednesday, bringing rain and gusty winds the latter half of the week.

Today is expected to be partly cloudy, with scattered afternoon showers for Kauai, highs from 80 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and variable winds up to 15 miles per hour. Overnight temperatures are expected to sink to as low as 66 to 71 degrees, with Oahu’s south shore, including Honolulu and Waikiki forecast to dip as low as 61 degrees.

Surf along north facing shores will be 8 to 10 feet this morning, rising to 10 to 15 feet tonight through Tuesday. Surf along west shores will be 5 to 7 feet this morning, rising to 8 to 12 feet tonight through Tuesday.

Surf along east facing shores will be 4 to 6 feet today, dropping to 1 to 3 feet Tuesday. Surf along south shores will be 2 feet or less through Tuesday.

Surf for north and west shores is expected to rise tonight through Tuesday due to a large, northwest swell. A much larger, northwest swell arriving Wednesday will produce warning-level surf along north and west shores through Thursday and possibly into Friday.

Several record highs continued to be set in November, particularly in Kahului, which wrapped up the month with a record high of 90 degrees on Nov. 28, surpassing the previous record of 87degrees set in 2001. No record temperatures have been set for the month of December yet.
