Shark warning signs posted at Haleiwa Beach Park

Lifeguards posted shark warning signs this afternoon at Haleiwa Beach Park.

A 12-foot tiger shark was spotted by Ocean Safety crews at around 2 p.m.

“The shark was aggressively chasing a turtle approximately 25 feet from shore,” the Honolulu Emergency Services Department said in a news release.

Warning signs will remain posted throughout the night until Ocean Safety officials reassess the situation Thursday morning.
