HFD estimates Makiki condo fire damage totaling more than $540K

Crews battled a condo fire at 1111 Wilder Ave. on Wednesday.

Damage estimates for a Wednesday night Makiki high-rise fire was $541,250 total, the Honolulu Fire Department said in a news release.

The fire, reported at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday, was located at 1111 Wilder Ave., a 20-story condominium building.

The first unit arrived on scene at 6:32 p.m. to find a glow through the window on the 15th floor.

Firefighters found the fire in unit 15A.

A man and woman were moving into the unit with their minor son, but were not at home at the time of the fire, HFD said.

Damage to unit 15A was $307,000 for the structural damage and $4,000 to its contents.

Damage to the units above and below were $230,250.

Red Cross is assisting the occupants of 15A.

No one was injured in the fire.
