Dillon Jonke, from Kihei, and Dillon Ah Chong, from Keaau, finished in red numbers to capture their age divisions at last weekend’s 2019 Michelle Wie Hawaii State Junior Golf Association Tournament of Champions.
The final tournament of the HSJGA season was played for the 18th year at Wailea Emerald.
Jonke opened with an even-par 72 Saturday, then shot 68 Sunday to finish five shots ahead of Dane Watanabe in the boys 13-14 flight. They played the Emerald at 6,361 yards.
Ah Chong won the boys 15-18 flight, played at 6,825 yards, thanks to an opening-round 66. He finished at 143 to beat Tyler Ogawa by three.
Reigning state high school champion Leia Chung (75—146), a Leilehua sophomore, claimed the girls 13-14 championship by a shot over Raya Nakao. Myah McDonald (74—145) captured the girls 15-18 flight by four strokes over state high school runner-up Tagiralani Luafalealo.
The two oldest girls flights also played the Emerald at 6,361 yards.
Younger winners were Kady Matsumoto (70—149) and Keola Silva (80—162) in the 7-10 flights and Jasmine Wong (74—146) and James Fujita (76—148) in 11-12s.
