Reigning National League MVP Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers will take part in a youth camp hosted by Team Kado Baseball and 808 Sports Foundation on Dec. 28 and 29 at Mid-Pacific Institute.
Bellinger, the 2017 NL rookie of the year, won his first MVP award after hitting .305 with 47 home runs this season. He also won the Gold Glove in right field and was named to the All-MLB first team this week.
Bellinger was able to fit the camp into his winter schedule and “him wanting to come here and spend time with the kids and just having the kids hang around with him is big,” said Donny Kadokawa, who runs the camp.
The camp will also feature local pros and will be split into a session for players in first to fourth grades and another for those in fifth to eighth grades both days. Proceeds will go toward helping local players attend USA Baseball tournaments on the mainland.
“All these guys get exposure when they go out there,” Kadokawa said. “So it helps the local kids, especially the youth guys, to help them dream of getting better so one day they can be like him.”
The cost of the camp is $195 per player. Space is limited and registration is open at kadobaseball.com.
