Hawaii’s Eddie Stansberry (3) rose for a 3-point shot during the first half against the Portland State in November.

University of Hawaii guard Eddie Stansberry today was named the Big West’s men’s basketball player of the week.

Stansberry, a senior from San Francisco, hit five 3s and finished with 23 points in the Rainbow Warriors’ 94-73 rout of Samford this past Sunday.

Stansberry has scored at least 20 points in seven games this season.

It also marked the second time he has won the league’s weekly honor.

Stansberry launched a school-record 16 shots from behind the 3-point stripe against Samford. Stansberry is ranked fourth nationally with 3.8 treys made per game.

The Warriors will face UTEP in Sunday’s opening round of the 11th Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.
