Heroes Next Door: Nurse offers place of care, comfort to terminally ill

Registered nurse Kayoko Miura is a local hero featured in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser's Heroes Next Door. Miura opened up her home in Waialae Nui -- the Wahinekoa Hospice Home -- to patients at no cost through her nonprofit, Nagomi Foster Homes. Miura believes every person has the right to die with dignity, without worrying about health care costs in their last remaining days.
