Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identifies man killed in H-2 crash

One person died Saturday in a vehicle accident on the H-2 freeway that closed all southbound lanes between Ka Uka Boulevard and the Waianae exit.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office identified today the man who died as Sele Fauolo, 66, of Pearl City.

Honolulu police said Fauolo was driving a Ford F-150 pickup southbound on the H-2 when he left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck an embankment on the left shoulder. Fauolo died at the scene, police said.

The crash occurred about 6:20 p.m. All vehicles traveling southbound were routed off at the Ka Uka exit onto Kamehameha Highway.

Police said it was the 13th traffic fatality for Oahu this year, compared to 17 at the same time last year.
