Hawaii Department of Health officials said today that the state’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen to 371, up 20 from Saturday.

Of all the confirmed cases in Hawaii since the start of the outbreak, 21 have required hospitalizations, with 2 new cases reported today, health officials said. Nineteen hospitalizations are on Oahu, with one each from Kauai and Maui counties.

The state’s coronavirus death toll remains at 4 as of noon today, unchanged from Saturday.

Today’s statewide total includes 281 cases on Oahu, 43 in Maui County, 22 on Hawaii island, and 16 in Kauai County, according to health officials.

The statewide total also includes 2 Hawaii residents diagnosed outside of the state.

Seven cases in the statewide total are pending identification of county.

In all, state officials today reported 15 new cases on Oahu, five in Maui County and one new case in Kauai County. Health officials say that the sum of changes by county is “larger than the number of statewide newly reported cases because of previously reported pending cases being reclassified to county totals as more information is collected.”

The Maui County tally includes the first two confirmed cases on Molokai, both employees of the Family Market Center grocery store, which has temporarily closed.

A total 85 patients have recovered since the start of the outbreak, with health officials reporting three new recoveries today. By county, those recoveries include: 63 on Oahu, 11 in Maui County, seven on the Big Island, and four on Kauai.

The state’s Joint COVID-19 Information Center said in a statement that the 20 new confirmed cases today are all adults. Eleven cases are travel-related, two are from community spread, and seven are pending further information.

Health officials report the number of travel-related cases is dropping so the greater concern are community-associated cases, the center’s statement said, adding that Kauai continues to have only travel-associated cases and Lanai has had no reported cases.

The COVID-19 Information Center said that of the 13,536 coronavirus tests so far conducted by state and clinical laboratories in the islands, a total 369, or 2.7%, have been positive. (That number does not include the two Hawaii residents living outside the state who are also counted in Hawaii’s total of 371.)
