Hawaii men’s basketball team adds 2 players

The University of Hawaii basketball team today signed an accurate outside-shooting forward and a multi-purpose guard.

Casdon Jardine, a 6-foot-7 stretch four from Utah Valley University, is joining the Rainbow Warriors as a graduate transfer. Noel Coleman, who was born and reared in Belgium, is transferring to UH after a season at the University of San Diego.

“When I put my name in the transfer portal, I had plenty of options,” Jardine said. “But it really came down to the right fit basketball wise and academically. My wife and I just got married. We’re looking to take on the next chapter of our lives and the most out of the opportunity that we could. Hawaii seemed to cross all those T’s an dot all those I’s.”

After a standout career at Twin Falls (Idaho) High, Jardine served a two-year church mission in Brazil. He then played a season at College of Southern Idaho before transferring to Boise State. After a season with the Broncos, he transferred to Utah Valley. He redshirted during the 2018-2019 season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules.

This past season, Jardine averaged 10.1 points per game on a team-best 39% shooting from behind the 3-point arc. He also grabbed 4.8 rebounds per game.

Jardine will give the Rainbow Warriors a player flexible enough to create space with his outside shooting while also rotating into the low post.

Coleman, who is 6-1, played for Belgium’s national team in the FIBA U18 European Championships. Coleman attended high school in Kansas his junior and senior years. He then signed with San Diego. After entering the transfer portal, Coleman decided to reunite with UH assistant coach Chris Gerlufsen. A year ago, Gerlufsen was an assistant with USD. On choosing UH, Coleman said, “it clicked right away.”
