Hawaii state Rep. Kyle Yamashita and Sen. Gilbert Keith-Agaran joined the COVID-19 Care Conversation today to share updates on the efforts at the State Capitol.

The Legislature returned to the Capitol this week for a special condensed session to focus on addressing the state’s budget shortfall. Yamashita and Keith-Agaran said that lawmakers are looking at how to stabilize the budget, including determining what to do with the federal funding provided under the CARES Act and moving forward various capital improvement projects that can directly impact the economy.

Although the legislative session was abruptly interrupted due to the coronavirus, lawmakers will return to complete the session in June. When asked about the new Aloha Stadium project, Yamashita and Keith-Agaran said the Legislature still intends to move the project forward.

The public can stay up-to-date on the latest developments by visiting the Hawaii State Senate YouTube or Facebook pages. All hearings are streamed live.
