UPDATE

Former U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa joined Spotlight Hawaii to talk about her bid for Honolulu mayor.

Hanabusa took questions about how to safely reopen the state to tourism, where the rail project should end, how to tackle homelessness, and her views on how to expand affordable housing.

Hanabusa says while the state needs to welcome visitors back to jumpstart the economy, she believes the state should mandate testing before departure, and add another layer of protection by mandating a second test for incoming travelers upon arrival.

Asked why she is running, Hanabusa said, “It is during this time that you need someone with experience, someone who understands all levels of government and has relationships. Because that’s what it always comes down to: what kind of relationships that we do have, and whether we’ve garnered respect.”

On Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann will join Spotlight Hawaii to discuss his bid to return to former position.
