Honolulu Fire Department rescues hiker from East Oahu trail
Fire rescue personnel airlifted a 29-year-old man from an East Oahu trail today.
Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Jeff Roache said HFD got a distress call for a lost hiker at 12:38 p.m.
Seven units, including Air 1, staffed with 17 personnel were activated.
The fire department airlifted the hiker at 1:35 p.m. and brought back safely to a landing zone in the Hahaione area.
A spokesman for HFD said the hiker got lost and fire personnel rescued him from the Hahaione Valley Trail.
The hiker may have been violating emergency orders due to COVID-19 that closed all state hiking trails.
