“Justice delayed is justice denied” is a legal axiom most commonly associated with the right to a speedy trial — but it now should apply on Oahu taxpayers’ behalf to repeated delays in the sentencings of Louis and Katherine Kealoha.
The former police chief and his estranged former- prosecutor wife were convicted last year of conspiracy for plotting to frame a relative to prevent him from revealing fraud that financed their lifestyle. But March sentencing hearings were postponed due to the pandemic, then again from Nov. 3 due to Election Day. Let’s just hope the Nov. 30 sentencing date sticks. Oahu residents need some closure on the Kealohas’ dark chapter of law-enforcement corruption.
