Land Board OKs renewal of permits allowing diversion of Maui streams

                                Alexander & Baldwin has been diverting water from windward East Maui for more than 150 years, leading to the struggle of Maui residents for water rights. The Board of Land and Natural Resources on Friday approved the continued diversion. Supporters of restoring the streams held a peaceful “Free the Streams” protest rally in 2016 in Honolulu, marching from Iolani Palace to the Alexander & Baldwin building on Bishop Street.
