Honolulu mayor-elect Rick Blangiardi announces job portal; several members of transition team

Mayor-elect Rick Blangiardi announced today that his transition team has set up an online portal for those in the public wishing to submit resumesfor top-level positions in his administration such as directors, deputy directors and agency chiefs.

The URL for the portal is http://transition2021.honolulu.gov.

Several members of Blangiardi’s core transition team were also announced in a press release issued this afternoon. They are: Emi Anamizu, CEO of Core Group One, Inc.; retired Judge Michael Broderick, CEO of the YMCA of Honolulu; Laurie Foster, senior consultant and partner at Business Consulting Resources, Inc.; and Karen Chang, former American Express and Charles Schwab corporate executive and wife of the mayor-elect.

The transition team will organize the application, review, and interview processes, the release said. Other individuals are part of a broader team that is assisting in the interviewing of viable candidates, the release said.

“We’ve put together a core group of community-minded leaders who, I believe, will work diligently to craft an effective team to serve at Honolulu Hale,” Blangiardi said in the release. “I appreciate Mike Formby’s direction and leadership in this effort and look forward to working with this transition team during our anticipated hiring period.”

Formby was announced as Blangiardi’s managing director, or second-in-command, on Nov. 9. About two major appointments are being looked at initially, Blangiardi told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser last week.

After winning a four-year term by besting fellow political newcomer Keith Amemiya by a 3-2 margin on Nov. 3, Blangiardi formally takes over from current Mayor Kirk Caldwell on Jan. 2.

Caldwell and Blangiardi have met at least three times to discuss various transition issues, Caldwell said Wednesday.
