7 displaced in Kailua house fire
A house fire in Kailua Tuesday afternoon displaced seven people and required an “aggressive fire attack” from firefighters.
The Honolulu Fire Department received a call about a fire on Kawailoa Road just after 5 p.m. When firefighters arrived a few minutes later, they found “heavy flames and smoke” coming from the side of the two-story home.
The five adults and two minors in the home were able to escape without any injuries.
Firefighters fought the fire and searched for any other occupants in the house.
The fire was brought under control at around 6 p.m. and fully extinguished at 8:15 p.m. HFD then searched for fire and smoldering areas to prevent any rekindling.
The occupants of the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
