Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire at Kahului Harbor today.

A Young Brothers facility in Kahului Harbor caught fire late Sunday night.

No injuries were reported.

When firefighters showed up to the facility, smoke and fire were visible from three containers that contained recyclables. The fire department personnel worked to bring the fire under control by removing the bales of recyclables. Measures were also taken to ensure that no hazardous material or pollutants were released into the water.

The estimated damage the fire caused amounts to about $110,000. Young Brothers reported $100,000 in damages to the containers and Hammerhead Metals reported $10,000 in damages to the materials.

Fire crews stayed at the scene into this morning to mop up the residual mess at the facility.
